Appearance

Ochaco is a short girl of a slender yet curvaceous figure. She is fair-skinned with a perpetual blush on her cheeks. Her optics are large and round, their irises a warm auburn brown, with rather thick upper eyelashes, ii longer and more prominent ones protruding outwards on either side and fewer but more than individually pronounced lower eyelashes.

Shoulder-length and almost the same colour every bit her optics, her hair is bobbed and curved inwards at the ends, two longer clumps taking the same shape on either side of her confront, and short bangs that achieve roughly a quarter of the style down her brow. On the peak inner segment of each of her fingers, she has a small, pinkish pad that'due south slightly darker than the remainder of her skin, somewhat resembling the toe of a cat or a domestic dog'due south mitt, which she uses when activating and deactivating her Quirk.

During schoolhouse, she wears the regular U.A. uniform for female students, consisting of a gray wearing apparel jacket with two blue-green stripes: a thin one below a thicker one, two pockets and gold buttons, a white dress shirt, a red tie with a small, golden button on it and a dark bluish-green pleated skirt. She also wears black tights and brown skid-on shoes instead of the usual knee joint-high socks worn by her other female person classmates.

Currently, Ochaco stays her hair into a ponytail.

Her hero costume consists of a skin-tight blackness full-body suit with a pale pink design down the center of her body, two black circles on her breast, and a blackness rectangle below her waist, running between her legs. There are two more than pink patches over her shoulders, both cut off by darker pink armbands that match the thick choker around her cervix.

She has circular wrist guards, a nighttime pinkish handle on the dorsum of each 1, wide articulatio genus-high boots with magenta soles and a two-piece belt around her waist a circumvolve embedded into the center where the pieces join upwards, a helmet with a tinted visor sometimes worn on her head, all of which are the aforementioned stake pink colour. The accessories are designed to press her acupuncture points, and the skin tightness of her costume is manifestly an error due to her not being specific in her design request.[2]

Her costume gets an upgrade during the Hero Work-Studies. The chugalug around her waist has been contradistinct. Her arm gauntlets have been inverse and with rings protruding on the side, and are at present able to shoot grappling hooks. She no longer has a glass visor in front end of her face.[3]

Personality

Ochaco trying non to laugh.

Other students accept described Ochaco every bit "the about laid back girl" among her class, existence very bubbly and kind of an airhead at times. She is often incredibly blunt without being aware of information technology. Similar to Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco'south reactions tend to be exaggerated and humorous: She oftentimes becomes amused at sure personality traits and quirks others exhibit, bursting into laughter at times, which she tries to suppress.

Ochaco is a very warm, lively individual who thinks about everything positively, though she is objective plenty to come across flaws and virtues. She is empathetic in general, friendly to those she meets, and will try to assistance or defend anyone who is kind to her or who needs aid. Ochaco seems to be very good at reading people, understanding the reasons for Izuku and Katsuki Bakugo's rivalry, and being the get-go to notice when the unremarkably collected Tsuyu Asui was upset. Her empathy and kindness are also seen in how well she gets forth with her classmates. She is on good terms with everyone and is especially close friends with several members of the class, including Izuku, Tenya Ida, Tsuyu, and so on.

Ochaco'due south fierce side.

Despite her normally cheery and sometimes ditzy demeanor, Ochaco can take on an extremely adamant, focused, and somewhat intimidating mental attitude when the situation calls for information technology. This side of her personality can come up as a surprise to those who are used to her generally bubbly nature, and it tends to appear during competitive situations like the U.A. Sports Festival. While she is shown to be surprisingly strategic, she isn't to a higher place making some impulsive or reckless decisions. When it comes to her chosen path equally a Hero, Ochaco is unwavering and dislikes being underestimated, even in the confront of an overwhelming strength.

Coming from a poor household, Ochaco tends to become hands excited or surprised over footling things, even losing her composure when faced with bodily luxury, to the indicate of nearly fainting. Bonus materials have depicted her equally frugal and occasionally stingy, since she goes to extreme lengths to relieve coin, including sleeping and so she doesn't waste oxygen or skipping meals in guild to save food. Ochaco's parents are her main drive to becoming a hero, and she desires above all else to earn money in order to requite them a comfortable life. She is brazenly honest almost her priorities and doesn't hide her pursuit of heroism being in large part due to coin, despite her embarrassment over admitting so. While money was a deciding cistron in her decision to become a hero, Ochaco dreamed of condign i prior to realizing the extent of her parent'due south budgetary struggles, as she admired their capacity to bring smiles to people's faces.

In terms of heroism, Ochaco has shown more preference towards rescue, being a fan of Thirteen for her expertise in the area. She is aware of her physical limitations, deciding to choose the combat-oriented hero Gunhead for her internship in order to increase her fighting repertoire. Consequently, Ochaco developed a new sense of battle awareness and has become a more instinctive fighter.

Ochaco having developed feelings for Izuku.

Ochaco is also greatly inspired by her classmates, peculiarly Izuku, whom she finds to be greatly admirable for both his force and compassion. Ochaco has developed a crush on him due to this and their close friendship, resulting in her attempts to follow his example, for amend or for worse. While he inspires her, Ochaco as well acknowledges that heroism takes priority over her romantic feelings, and does her best to proceed to grow while keeping them in check. Izuku has likewise caused her to consider the question of who protects heroes when they are in need since he continually throws himself into dangerous situations; this prominently shows how deeply Ochaco cares about him and others.

Ochaco's empathy can even extend to villains, as while she remained apprehensive towards Himiko Toga for having tried to kill her and Tsuyu, also as for taunting her over her feelings for Izuku, she noticed that Himiko was visibly upset and crying when Ochaco refused to place with her. This memory later on comes back to her and she realises that Himiko is still a human despite all the horrible things she's done, and acknowledges that she doesn't really know her or what lead her to become a villain. While she initially perceived this way of thinking to be wrong, information technology turns out that Izuku relates to her, with him having sensed the pain in Tomura Shigaraki's eye and desiring to find a way to help him, even though he knows that conflict is unavoidable. Ochaco notes that information technology's strange that they both find themselves able to experience such things towards their enemies.

Additionally, Ochaco'south feelings for Izuku also result in her having an occasional and subtle jealous side, which tends to be present when other girls get close to Izuku or converse highly with him. This is best displayed during his meetings and interactions with Mei Hatsume and Melissa Shield (with the former triggering rather upsetting memories for her), as well as existence unsettled by his encounter with "Camie". Despite this, Ochaco is not at all spiteful and often tries to hide or dismiss this feeling whenever it appears.

Abilities

Ochaco is formidable plenty to grab someone as powerful as Katsuki by surprise.

Overall Abilities: At outset glance, Ochaco doesn't seem similar one of the strongest combatants, but over the form of her fourth dimension at U.A. High School, she has drastically improved her combat prowess to become a very capable combatant. Her abilities earned her third place in the U.A. Entrance Exam, and 10th identify in the Quirk Apprehension Test. Ochaco's principal boxing tactic consists of getting close to her opponent and using her Quirk, Nix Gravity, to directly impact them. This causes her targets to continuously float upwardly and lose their footing, drastically inhibiting their fighting capabilities. Ochaco also utilizes floating rubble as projectile attacks, or remove the weight of heavy structures, belongings onto them to be used as improvised melee weapons. Ochaco can farther use Zero Gravity to remove her own weight to increase her agility and create decoys past making objects levitate in a higher place the footing. Ochaco's overall abilities make her ane of the strongest female students in her form.

Ochaco showcases her improvement at the Joint Training.

During the UsaJ. Incident, Ochaco was able to temporarily immobilize Kurogiri, a highly capable villain, thereby giving Hanta Sero and Rikido Sato an opening to subdue the villain fifty-fifty further. Ochaco has as well proven her mettle at the U.A. Sports Festival, wherein she was pitted confronting Katsuki, one of the strongest students in Grade 1-A. Despite having a disadvantage at shut range, and knowing Katsuki'due south abilities far exceeded her ain, Ochaco managed to take hold of him by surprise a few times during their battle, every bit well as pressure level him into using his full power. Post-obit the Sports Festival, she trained under the Boxing Hero: Gunhead to improve her manus-to-hand combat skills, becoming an even more formidable individual. Ochaco likewise developed keen senses and quick reflexes, equally she was able to discern when Himiko Toga was attempting to set on her and reacted speedily enough to dodge and pin the villain to the basis.

Ochaco'southward abilities garnered the attention of Nejire Hado, the tertiary strongest student of U.A. High Schoolhouse'south Big 3, who recommended both Ochaco and Tsuyu to intern alongside her nether the tutelage of Ryukyu, the No. 10 (formerly No. 9) Pro Hero. At the offset the Shie Hassaikai Raid, the Ryukyu Team acted as the showtime line of defense force against Rikiya Katsukame of the Eight Bullets and were able to successfully subdue him. In the final round of the Joint Preparation Battle, Ochaco incapacitated the unpredictable Neito Monoma, having capitalized on the latter's endeavor to replicate Izuku'southward Quirk. When an immobilized Neito attempted to use a copied Poltergeist to launch a metallic pipage at Ochaco, her quick reflexes allowed her to effortlessly dodge the surprise assail. Afterward, Ochaco swiftly defeated both Reiko Yanagi and Yui Kodai, with a single attack each.

Ochaco uses Gunhead Martial Arts on Himiko.

  • Gunhead Martial Arts (ガンヘッド マーシャル アーツ , Gan Heddo Māsharu Ātsu ? ): When she worked under Gunhead, Ochaco was trained in martial arts in order to set on at shut range more than finer, benefiting her Quirk in combat. She has mastered several forms of grappling, take-downs, and throws by using force, including her opponents' strength against themselves. Her skill is enough to easily dispatch an opponent who tries to stab her and incapacitate them, as shown with Thirteen, and Himiko Toga, a dangerous villain. Ochaco has developed a few moves that she is able to employ in conjunction with her Quirk.
  • Enhanced Stamina: Through intense training, Ochaco obtained an impressive amount of stamina. Later having her stamina siphoned past a Trigger-enhanced Rikiya, Ochaco was still able to hold her own against the Yakuza member for 20 minutes until the Trigger drug wore off, allowing the Ryukyu Squad to defeat him in one case and for all.

Tactical Intellect: While Ochaco isn't the most academically efficient of her course, she makes up for it with her strategic listen and her ability to deduce an enemy's weaknesses and combat mode soon after the battle begins. Ochaco likely developed this to help embrace for her initial lack of straight combat abilities. When she isn't facing opponents in close-quarters combat, Ochaco takes advantage of ravaged areas past using her Quirk to gather wreckage without an opponent noticing, all while exploiting the collateral harm of ensued devastation.

As Kurogiri attempted to subdue Tenya Ida, Ochaco took observe of the villain's neck armor, realized it was a weak point, and exploited it, assuasive Hanta and Rikido to briefly subdue the shrouded villain, and giving Tenya the chance to seek reinforcements from U.A. High. Her strategic skill is sometimes doubted by, or accredited to others, and this is hinted at by Katsuki who remembered her beingness friends with Izuku from her attempted Meteor Storm, and assumed he was the i responsible for advising her. On the reverse, Ochaco had demonstrated great strategic ability on her own merit, as seen by her declining Izuku's offer for assist during the Sports Festival. Katsuki himself noted that it was a close call for him when he had to use his full power to neutralize Ochaco's strategy, implying that if he hadn't taken detect of her Meteor Storm technique, Ochaco would've defeated him. She was likewise able to discern that the watches on Neito's Hero costume is how the latter keeps rails of the fourth dimension limits of the Quirks he has copied.

Quirk

Ochaco using her Quirk confronting the Villain Bots.

Zero Gravity ( 無重力 ( ゼログラビティ ) , Naught Gurabiti ? ): Ochaco's Quirk gives her the power to nullify the effects of gravity on solid targets (living and nonliving) by touching them with the pads on her fingertips, causing them to become weightless and float. She is able to cancel the effect of her Quirk by touching her finger pads together.

Her Quirk is skillful for restraint, every bit those affected are unlikely to fight back since they will go on floating up until they are released. Ochaco takes reward of ravaged areas to gather wreckage while also exploiting the consequences of a destructive Quirk. She tin easily clean up disaster zones while simultaneously figuring out the timing of her movements so as not to damage others.

The main drawback of Ochaco'south Quirk is that if the upper weight limit (effectually three tons) is exceeded, or if Ochaco floats herself, she will endure from astringent nausea. As role of her training, Ochaco considerably reduced resultant nausea and increased her weight limit, likewise as adult her ability to float herself for brusk periods of fourth dimension without becoming nauseous.

Super Moves

  • Skill Release ( ( かい ) ( じょ ) , Kaijo ? ): Ochaco tin can press her fingertips together and make whatever she has touched finish floating. This move is first used on Villain Bots, and when she saved Izuku from falling to his decease, at the U.A. Entrance Test.
  • Meteor Tempest (メテオストーム , Meteosutōmu ? ): Subsequently floating a large quantity of rubble surrounding her, Ochaco tin collect the collaterally damaged structures, forming a giant meteor of debris to a higher place her opponents, which she then causes to autumn. She offset used this motility during her friction match against Katsuki.
  • Meteor Fafrotskies (メテオファフロッキーズ , Meteo Fafurokkīzu ? ): In conjunction with Tsuyu, the 2 rise and throw several pieces of droppings at the targets. It is a stronger, multi-ranged version of Shooting star Storm. This move was first used against two villains with Gigantification Quirks during the 2 heroes' internship.
  • Zero Satellites (ゼロ・サテライツ , Zero Sateraitsu ? ): Beingness knocked towards some nearby droppings, Ochaco floats it and with the addition of her grappling hooks, attacking her opponent by slamming the debris direct at them. [four] It is shut-range version of Meteor Tempest. This was first used against Himiko after being lured into an abandoned house.
  • Comet Abode Run ( 彗星 ( すいせい ) ホームラン , Suisei Hōmuran ? ): After touching some rubble and a colonnade to make them weightless, Ochaco uses the colonnade to forcefully hit the rubble at her enemy. This motion is first used to distract Tenya during the Battle Trial.
  • Gravity Plus (グラビティ プラス , Gurabiti Purasu ? ): Using Gunhead Martial Arts, later on touching her opponent to make them bladder, Ochaco then grabs them by the arm and throws them over her shoulder to the ground. This move is first used to defeat a smuggler during the second Hero Work-Studies.

Trivia

Early design concepts for Ochaco and her costume.

  • In a prototype concept, Ochaco was originally "Yu Takeyama," possessing both the identity "Mt. Lady" and the Gigantification Quirk. This was scrapped because the author thought that a main character having such a Quirk would be too troublesome for her.[7] Her original name, Quirk (forth with it's abilities) and superhero identity were after instead given to some other character who too filled her role in Chapter ane and her old advent had been given to Yui Kodai, who has a similar name and Quirk as well.
  • While her name was spelled as 'Ochako' in a character analogy on the official manga website, it is spelled equally Ochaco on both the anime website and PVs.
  • According to Ochaco's Book one profile:
    • Ochaco's bob pilus and dialect are parts of her schoolgirl charm.
    • Ochaco's favorite matter is the starry sky.
    • Ochaco loves Japanese food, especially mochi.
    • Kohei Horikoshi describes Ochaco every bit "honest".
    • Horikoshi is proud of the name he came up for her.
  • Ochaco's rankings in the Popularity Polls are as follows:
    • Ranked quaternary in the Starting time Popularity Poll.
    • Ranked 10th in the 2d Popularity Poll.
    • Ranked 9th in the Tertiary Popularity Poll.
    • Ranked 12th in the Fourth Popularity Poll.
    • Ranked 8th in the Fifth Popularity Poll.
    • Ranked 16th in the Sixth Popularity Poll.
    • Ranked 12th in the 7th Popularity Poll.
  • Ochaco's hero proper name, Uravity (ウラビティ , Urabiti ? ), comes from Gravity (グラビティ , Gurabiti ? ) without the "g", and tin can be derived from her full name past combining Ura ( , urara ? ), bi ( , bi ? ) (which tin can also be read as ka), and "tea" (茶, read as cha in her name).
  • Ochaco'due south surname contains the kanji for "beautiful, lovely" ( , urara ? ) and "day" ( , ka ? ), and her showtime name contains "tea" (お茶 , ocha ? ) and "child" ( , ko ? ).
  • Ochaco's known U.A. data is every bit follows:
    • Student No. 5 in Course 1-A.
    • Ranked tertiary in the U.A. Entrance Exam.
    • Ranked 10th at Shota's Quirk Apprehension Exam.
      • Her fifty-meter dash record is vii.15 seconds. Her previous tape was 7.28 in centre school.
      • Her softball throw record is infinite.
    • Ranked 13th in Course ane-A's mid-term grades.[8]
    • Ranked in the Top 16 of the U.A. Sports Festival Beginning-Year Stage.
      • Ochaco received a total of twenty nominations from Pro Heroes for her U.A. Sports Festival performance, making her the 8th virtually nominated Class 1-A educatee.
  • She shares her birthday with Hinata Hyuga from Naruto, another Weekly Shonen Bound series.
    • Interestingly, both characters are known to have a crush on their series' respective main characters of their respective universes.
  • Ochaco still owns a flip-phone, while all of her classmates own smartphones.[9]
  • Ochaco and Katsuki share the same costume designer.[ten]
  • Ochaco'due south Japanese vocalisation actor, Ayane Sakura, also voices Reiko Yanagi.
  • Ochaco'due south English voice actor, Luci Christian, also voices Chiyo Shuzenji equally of Season 2.
